MONSIGNOR THOMAS WORDEN

Monsignor Worden was born in Chorley in 1920. He studied at Upholland and was ordained in 1946. He studied Theology at Fribourg and Scripture at Rome and Jerusalem. After a short period as assistant in Widnes, he returned to Upholland in 1952. Ten years later he became Prefect of Studies and in this capacity was largely responsible for planning and directing the vast reorganisation of studies in the Senior Seminary. He was appointed Rector of the College in September 1972 and became a Prelate of Honour at the beginning of 1973. He suffered a heart attack on Easter Sunday 1974 and was admitted to the Providence Hospital, St. Helens, where he died on 11th May. May he rest in peace.
