FATHER BERNARD WYCHE

Bernard Wyche was born on 1st August 1917, in Liverpool. He studied at Upholland and at the English College in Rome. He was ordained at St Teresa's, Liverpool on 13th February 1944. He served as an assistant in Seaforth, St Helens, Litherland and St Francis de Sales, Liverpool. In 1950 a serious illness left him almost blind, but this did not prevent him from returning to active work and in 1953 he became Chaplain to St Edward's Orphanage and this was followed by appointments to St Francis de Sales, Liverpool, Holy Trinity, Garston, St Luke's, Whiston and St Patrick's, Wigan. In 1969 he became Parish Priest at St Vincent's, Liverpool and was transferred to St Winefride's, Bootle in 1974. In February 1977, he was appointed Chaplain to St Vincent's School for the Blind and Partially Sighted in Liverpool. He died on 25th February 1979. May he rest in peace.
