St Joseph's Society
Francis Ellison was born in Chorley, Lancs, on 1st October, 1909. After his early education at St Chad's, Chorley, he studied at Upholland College and the English College, Rome. He was ordained in Rome on 28th October, 1934. He returned to Upholland as a member of staff in September, 1939, where he taught Classics, directed the College orchestra, and played the chapel organ. He remained at Upholland for 18 years until taking up his appointment in July 1957 as Parish Priest of SS Peter & Paul, Mawdesley. In June 1981 he retired because of ill-health. He died on 12th February, 1984. May he rest in peace.
