Monsignor Jones died on 30th October 1970, after a long illness, aged 64 years. He was ordained in 1933 having studied at Upholland College and Rome. After further scripture studies, he returned to Upholland where he taught for twenty-three years. He then served as chaplain to St. Vincent's School for the Blind and Partially Sighted. He was for five years head of the Divinity Department at Christ's College of Education. He edited the English translation of the Jerusalem Bible. May he rest in peace.
